MARTINSBURG — Mason Sparks tossed six shutout innings on Thursday, allowing three hits with four strikeouts and just one walk in Central’s 9-0 win over Chestnut Ridge in high school baseball.

Central (9-3) scored all nine runs in the sixth inning. Josh Beltz led the offense with two hits and three RBIs to go with two hits from Troy McNichol. Teammate Jay Hoenstine reached base four times and scored twice.

Penn Cambria rallies

CRESSON — Ayden Himmer’s fielder’s choice drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Penn Cambria defeat Cambria Heights, 5-4.

Preston Farabaugh had two RBIs for the Panthers, and Corbin Vinglish had two hits.

Tristan Weakland doubled and drove in two runs for the Highlanders, and Garrett Jasper had two hits and was in line for the win on the mound after striking out nine before Penn Cambria rallied against a reliever.

CLAYSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Landon Douglas to beat Moshannon Valley, 2-1.

Dustin Slowik finished with two hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs (8-3), who also got two hits from Mason Campagna and an RBI.

Slowik started and gave up two hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked three. He was charged with one run.
